RS79 “Paul Johansen” is one of 13 very similar rescue boats built between 1963 and 1972. At just under 23 meters and built to ice-class certification, RS79 is a robust vessel built to reliably withstand high seas and inclement weather.
Paul Johansen was built by Smedvik mek. verksted and launched in 1970. She was stationed in Gryllefjord / Senjahopen (Troms).
Research of RS79’s NSSR history is ongoing with the hope of sharing more in the near future.
