MV Paul Johansen’s insignia was produced as the result of a collaboration between owner Farley Blackman and renowned artist Daniel Martin Diaz. “Over the years I have enjoyed my time with Daniel and am a proud patron with an extensive collection of his work. Collaborating with Daniel was the obvious choice as I set about establishing an insignia and identity for the vessel,” states Farley.
The insignia is much more than a sum of its elements. Each element however does represent specific characteristics and sensibilities of MV Paul Johansen:
The Octopus – represents the vessel’s agility and adaptability at sea.
The Crown – represents the vessel’s Norwegian heritage.
The Circle of Thorns – represent the ruggedness of the vessel, with the circular design symbolising t’s global reach.
The Cross and RS79 – represents the vessel’s NSSR heritage and the lives it saved.
The sum of these represent the essence, intent and uniqueness of the vessel.
