Entering Private Service

RS79 “Paul Johansen” entered private service in the mid-1990s when it was purchased by Bob Grant, of Bainbridge Island, Washington, USA. Bob, an engineer by trade, spent a number of years working with gifted craftspeople to turn the very utilitarian small ship into a remarkable private vessel. Bob used the boat both privately and as a charter vessel which he captained.
